Laminate Wooden Flooring

Laminate flooring is a multi-layer synthetic product that simulates wood using a photographic applique layer beneath a clear protective coat. It consists of a wear layer, decorative layer, core board (usually HDF), and a backing layer. It's more affordable than real wood and highly durable for residential use.

8mm is standard for most homes. 12mm offers better underfoot feel, sound insulation, and durability — ideal for high-traffic areas. For ground floors or areas with minor unevenness, 12mm is strongly recommended as it bridges small subfloor irregularities better.

Standard laminate is not suitable for wet areas as prolonged moisture can cause swelling. However, water-resistant or AC4/AC5 rated laminate with sealed joints can be used in kitchens with caution. For bathrooms, we recommend engineered wood or vinyl flooring instead.

AC (Abrasion Class) rating measures wear resistance. AC3 is suitable for residential use throughout the home. AC4 is for light commercial spaces like offices. AC5 handles heavy commercial traffic. For homes in Delhi NCR, AC3 or AC4 is the most practical choice.

Yes. Underlayment provides cushioning, noise reduction, and a moisture barrier between the subfloor and laminate. Some laminate products come with pre-attached underlayment. If yours doesn't, always install a separate foam or IXPE underlayment before laying the planks.
